6th Dan Black Belt
Chien Vuong

Master Chien Vuong, 6th Dan (Owner/Founder): Master Chien has dedicated his life to the study of Taekwondo and his greatest source of joy is sharing that knowledge by teaching both in and out of the dojang. Brought to America from Vietnam after the fall of Saigon as a small boy, Master Chien did not speak English and had hardly more than the clothes on his back but quickly embraced Taekwondo when his family settled near Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Through hard work and determination, Master Vuong established and grew his school from operating out of a gymnastic studio with a single student into a business leader and fixture in the Crofton Community, earning numerous accolades over the course of more than 3 decades.

Master Chien runs his school along with his wife Rose Vuong and his sister Nyke and his stepdaughter Tasha. His stepson Michael was the first student in the history of the school to achieve the rank of black belt. Chien’s son Tyler and daughter Mika are also black belts with numerous state and national competitive titles.

4th Dan Black Belt
John Scoville

Master John Scoville, 4th Dan (Manager/Head Instructor): Master John is one of the earliest graduates of Vuong’s Martial Arts, joining at the age of 8 in 1995. He competed in tournaments across the country bringing home numerous local and state championship titles including two silver medals from the US Jr. Olympic Championships, but his true passion has always been teaching. He earned his black belt at the age of 13 and immediately began working as an instructor at the school. He continued training and teaching until becoming the first of Master Chien’s students to earn the rank of Master (4th Dan black belt)  in 2014.

A graduate of the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business, John has worked for over 15 years with the Department of Defense and the Intelligence industry in Washington, DC.
